On BayFM yesterday, the grand total was announced at noon, $59,021, which is about $11,000 away from reaching their goal.
BayFM held a radiothon Wednesday in support of a fundraising effort by the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue team. They need a new Primary Response Truck.
Alan McDonald dropped into the station for a chat about his experience with volunteers of BOISAR. On January 28, 2023, he joined a friend for a snowmobile trek in Loggers School Road, just outside of Corner Brook. They were about 16 kms in when McDonald struck a bump on a bridge. After a call to 911, BOISAR managed to find him within a few hours. Volunteer Krista Tarbett says they used a new piece of equipment for the first time in order to keep the spine mobilized.
The radiothon held on BayFM raised in the vicinity of $8,000, bringing the grand total of fundraising efforts to $59,021, which is about $11,000 away from reaching their goal.
