Cpl Jolene Garland says just before 2 o’clock in the afternoon, they noticed a vehicle pulling into a business in Stephenville that had a smashed window. Police approached the driver, who was found to be driving without insurance. A 20-year-old woman was ticketed and her vehicle was impounded. Garland says later that afternoon, police caught a senior man doing more than double the posted speed limit. She says the 72 year old man was doing 147 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. As well, Garland says Deer Lake RCMP seized 4 vehicles in less than 24 hours this past weekend and two drivers were charged with impaired driving. RCMP NL reminds all drivers that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. There is no need to speed.
