Shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, police were called to the theft of the truck from a home in St. Georges. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says a woman confronted the man who she noticed in the truck bed of her vehicle.

A 23-year-old man is facing a number of charges after trying to steal an ATV, stealing a truck, striking and dragging a man while trying to get away, and eventually tasered by the RCMP.

It happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, November 27th in the Bay St. George area. Police were called to the theft of the truck from a home in St. Georges. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says a woman confronted the man who she noticed in the truck bed of her vehicle. Two men, who were also looking for the suspect for trying to steal an offroad vehicle nearby, intervened. One of the men was assaulted and then the suspect struck both men with the stolen truck, dragging one of them. Both men were treated in hospital.

O’Donaghey says at 2:23 a.m. police got a call about a single vehicle crash on Brook Street in Stephenville Crossing, identified the suspect as 23-year-old Stefan King and found him inside a home. King did not comply with police but was ultimately taken into police custody following a struggle and being tasered.

He was remanded by the courts and is due to appear in front of the judge again on December 8th.
