Wayne Saunders was driving back from a long weekend in Bottle Cove, when he struck an unmarked pothole, wrecking two ties and two rims.

The south shore highway along the Bay of Islands is in need of repair and it’s been an issue for community Mayors for some time. Lark Harbour Mayor Wade Park has been vocal on BayFm about the situation, as has MHA Eddie Joyce. A Corner Brook resident is the latest after having an experience on the highway near Lark Harbour on Monday. Wayne Saunders was driving back from a long weekend in Bottle Cove, when he struck an unmarked pothole. He says his vehicle will be in the shop for the next two weeks. Mayor Park says there’s a new glamping business in Bottle Cove and lots of tourists are visiting the area. Cruise ship visitors often take bus tours all the way to Bottle Cove beach. He says some patchwork done recently is laughable and everyone keeps asking when the roads will be fixed. BayFM is waiting to hear from Transportation Minister John Abbott about the situation.
