Councillor Pam Keeping says automated collection will begin in some areas but the contractor is still waiting on delivery of a second truck.
The City of Corner Brook will officially launch its new garbage collection program on January 19th. At last night’s public meeting, Deputy Mayor Pam Keeping says automated collection will begin in some areas but the contractor is still waiting on delivery of a second truck. Residents must begin using their city-provided bins on January 19th and dual-stream recycling will also take effect that day. The first week of recyclables will focus on plastics and containers, as outlined in the collection schedule.
Recycling must not be placed on top of the city provided bins and this could result in garbage not being collected. If any resident has not yet received a garbage bin, call 709-637-1666. Director of Engineering, Aaron O’Brien, says they are ready for more calls and the hope is to have a dial by directory option for garbage questions.
Mayor Linda Chaisson says residents can find out more Friday morning right here on Bayfm at 8:15 when Aaron O’Brien will join Lenny Benoit.
