Applications are now being accepted for the 2025-26 Community Enhancement Employment Program. Projects must directly support tourism and economic development, community and municipal infrastructure, and/or community services. The program provides funding to eligible rural project sponsors such as: Municipalities, Inuit community governments, Local service districts, Community and economic development organizations as well as other non-profit organizations.
Individuals in rural areas can be employed on a short-term project for up to 400 hours to assist in their eligibility for federal Employment Insurance benefits. In 2024-25, the program provided funding for 132 projects, supporting approximately 693 workers. The deadline to apply is June 20th and more information can be found at gov.nl.ca.
