An expansion at a hatchery in Stephenville is headed into the environmental assessment phase

    Guidelines for the preparation of the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the project have been approved by government and is available at gov.nl.ca. 

    Northern Harvest Sea Farms wants to expand the Indian Head Hatchery in Stephenville. The expansion is intended to improve production capacity and quality of salmon smolts. The project includes upgrades to improve efficiency of the existing facility; expansion of the hatchery; and new supporting infrastructure such as freshwater and saltwater supply and effluent treatment and discharge.
