The project will consist of building a new water storage tank, water pumping station and 2,400 meters of transmission main to expand the City's water distribution system.

Funding has been approved for the Curling/Westside Reservoir which can handle 300 new housing units in the city of Corner Brook. At Monday’s public meeting, Councillor Donna Luther says the bulk of the money required for the over $13M project is coming from the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF). The project will consist of building a new water storage tank, water pumping station and 2,400 meters of transmission main to expand the City's water distribution system. The project aims to provide water to a new residential development area and tie into the existing water distribution system. The project will serve 8,576 existing housing units and enable 300 new housing units.

Director of Engineering Aaron O’Brien says the plan is to have it built by the end of 2027 with the design completed this year. The area will be serviced and there’s a combination of crown, city, and private land in the area that can be developed.

The city’s share of the project is just over $3.6M.
