After a temporary closure, back country access is now open again in Gros Morne National Park

    Parks Canada has been closely monitoring emergency resource availability, and access to critical resources such as search and rescue teams and air support, has now improved allowing visitors a safe return to the backcountry.

    Back country access is now open in Gros Morne National Park. 

    This includes:

    · Northern Traverse

    · Long Range Traverse

    · Big Lookout

    · Gros Morne Summit and Ferry Gulch

    · Western Brook Pond Gorge Day Hike

    · Tablelands Off-Trail Hiking

    · All Backcountry Camping

    Since the temporary closure, Parks Canada has been closely monitoring emergency resource availability, and access to critical resources such as search and rescue teams and air support, has now improved allowing visitors a safe return to the backcountry. Meanwhile, a full fire ban continues to be in effect across the province until at least September 7th.
