So far, 106 people have been notified of their loss of property.
Although weather conditions have improved for ground crews fighting fires in this province, a low ceiling is preventing aerial crews from taking off. During an update on fires this morning, Premier John Hogan says so far 203 metered structures have burned and nearly 6300 people have registered as an evacuee. He says the Kingston fire is now burning at nearly 11,000 hectares but communities may be opened soon. So far, 106 people have been notified of their loss of property. Public Safety Minister John Haggie says it will take some time to properly assess all the damage since this is done by ground crews. He says the last thing we need right now, is another fire since assets are all being used and first responders are worn out after the past two weeks.
Meanwhile, Blackhawks brought in from Utah in the United States have been able to fly during the day, but approval from the federal government to fly at night has not yet been granted.
