This is a free, public, event located in the "Lundrigan Room" that houses his Newfoundland & Labrador book collection and historical maps of the province from 1556 to 1879.
There’s a Special Collections Grand Opening & High Tea Reception taking place at the Ferriss Hodgett Library, Grenfell Campus, today and everyone is invited. Crystal Rose is the Associate Dean of Libraries. She says this is a chance for the general public to take an exclusive behind the scenes tour and learn about the treasures in the archives and rare book room. Rose says this will include a recently donated collection from Arthur Raymond Lundrigan, which is located in the "Lundrigan Room" and houses his Newfoundland & Labrador book collection and historical maps of the province from 1556 to 1879.
Rose says students at Grenfell have been collecting stories and oral histories since 1980, which can be found in their archives and rare book room, like the Bowater oral history collection and Sir Wilfred Grenfell collection.
Rose says they are also accepting donations of archival materials that listeners might have (diaries, letters, photos, recording) that may have historical value to the West Coast.
Today’s event at the library in Grenfell Campus takes place from 4-6 p.m. This free event will also have free parking.
