RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says the woman was berry picking and her vehicle wouldn’t start.
A 64-year old woman is safe after getting stranded and spending the night in the woods on a remote trail near Birchy Narrows. Deer Lake Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) found the woman yesterday morning after the RCMP received a report of her missing on Wednesday. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says the woman was berry picking and her vehicle wouldn’t start. She was not injured and had warm clothes, food and water as well as the ability to share her GPS coordinates. O’Donaghey says GSAR found the woman and were able to boost the battery in her vehicle, and she was able to drive back to safety.
