The 53rd Corner Brook Winter Carnival starts tomorrow with a packed ten day schedule of events, food and fun. Donna Luther is chair of Adult Events. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, she says carnival button sales have been going well. She says the first place prize is $2000 and there is a long list of other prizes. A button also means a discount at carnival events.
Meanwhile, a flag raising beginning at 6 o'clock tomorrow night at city hall kickstarts carnival followed by the Party in the Park, where Leif the Lucky comes out of his hut. Luther says a fun event this weekend will be “Who let the dogs out?” this Sunday at Corner Brook Regional High. She says last year there were two or three dogs but five minutes later, about 22 dogs were there. Dogs will be judged on things like the fast wagging tail or longest tail.
Luther says a new event this year is called “Speed Dating” and it takes place on Tuesday night. Her biggest fear was having two men and twenty women but the questions are more around getting to know someone. For details on events and cancellations it’s best to go to cornerbrookwintercarnival.ca
