Bennett has been charged with careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unlawful possession of a firearm while under a prohibition.
35- year-old Joseph Bennett man is facing a list of weapons charges after police were called to Margaret Bowater Park early Friday evening. At around 5:45 p.m. Friday (Oct. 17), the RNC received a report that someone was in possession of a firearm in the park. Officers located and arrested Bennett without incident. They found a BB gun in his possession. Bennett has been charged with careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unlawful possession of a firearm while under a prohibition.
Meanwhile, this is the second time this month police have been called to the park, and in both cases the accused had BB guns. On October 4th, 18-year-old Frank Major was arrested and charged, and police say he also has a hunting style knife in his possession as well as a long barrel BB gun.
