One person was taken to hospital yesterday after an ATV accident about 2kms in on a trail near Steady Brook. At about 3pm Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and rescue were called in by the RNC. 15 members quickly responded and set up at the Steady Brook Falls parking lot. Once on scene, BOISAR members helped paramedics provide first aid, and brought the person out using their rescue boggan to a waiting ambulance.
Also, just after 5pm on Thursday, BOISAR was called in to help by the RNC. 19 members and paramedics responded up the Main in the Mountain trail on ATVs. A Canadian Forces Search and Rescue helicopter from the 103 Squadron in Gander was dispatched and the person was taken to hospital by ambulance.
