Government is bringing in universal screening this school year to help students at a young age who may need extra help with learning. These evidence-based assessments will take place in elementary schools with kindergarten and Grade 1 students using Acadience Reading and Acadience Reading Français screeners. It includes six measures that assess skills students need to become better readers.
Universal mathematics screening tools will also be introduced for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in both French and English. They are designed to better understand students’ foundational mathematics skills and identify learning challenges.
