In about a month’s time, Corner Brook council and staff will start talking about the budget for 2027. Late last month, only a handful of people showed up for a town hall meeting to have a say in how tax dollars are spent. It took place at the Marina Redmond Centre and some concerns included snow clearing and sidewalks. On Bayfm, Mayor Linda Chaisson says budget discussions start during the second week of November and people can comment by emailing budget@cornerbrook.com
Meanwhile, for the 2026 tax year, businesses in Corner Brook became automatically eligible to apply for interest-free quarterly payments for business. Chaisson says that was brought forward at a town hall for business last year. The budget for 2026 rang in at $44.7 million, up 6.7% from the previous year.
